Tesla is known to make some of the best electric vehicles in the world, but they’re not the only manufacturer with skin in the game. Check out five of the best affordable new electric cars on the market.

With plans to abandon gas-powered engines by 2035, Volkswagen has started to introduce their new line of electric vehicles to the world. Leading the pack is the ID.4. The ID.4 has several battery options that provide a range of 209 to 275 miles. Compared to other electric cars, that’s pretty average, but the ID.4 makes up for it with impressive handling. This car is comfortable to drive and, overall, exemplifies VW’s talent for making high quality, affordable vehicles.

Ford Mustang Mach-E

Mustang enthusiasts were not impressed by the exterior design of the Mach-E when it was first introduced, but it has gained a bit of a fan club over the last couple of years. It has a driving range of 230 miles and an interior that is full of the latest technology. Despite its name, this car doesn't drive like a traditional V8 Mustang, but it does prove that Ford is capable of designing a top-notch electric vehicle.
